ENCUENTRO INTERNACIONAL DE MÚSICOS DE JAZZ Y MÚSICA VIVA
The Monterrey Live Music and Jazz Musicians Meeting (Encuentro de Músicos de Jazz y Música Viva Monterrey) was created to bring music, musicians and many kinds of contemporary music to the city of Monterrey, México and the third world.
It is one of the few music festivals that brings together musicians from all over the world, and embraces and supports the creation of music without labels. Our week long festival includes concerts, workshops and residencies for all musicians. We also believe in the support of local musicians and have included local talent from Mexico in the festival.
For eleven years our sponsors include the US Embassy, the Alliance Francaise, The German Cultural Center (and the Goethe Institute as well), the Canada Embassy and others. We also collaborate with instrument builders, Joe Veillette, Stuart Spector, and Spider Cape. Special support and sponsorship comes from Roberto´s Winds in New York, NY.
In the last eleven years more than 50 musicians, 60 workshops and some of the greatest musicians come together every year in Monterrey. We know by attendance that the Encuentro de Músicos de Jazz y Música Viva Monterrey is something that the
Community in Monterrey is proud to be a part of.
Workshops are included in the festival to help musicians develop and grow. We also think it’s important to share with students and encourage them to enroll in the workshops.
